Ways To Support Starlight
How your school can help
Some of our more popular activities are described below, but you could organise a cake bake, sponsored skip/walk/silence, or anything else you can think of. Some schools have chosen Starlight as their charity of the year and run a whole programme of fundraising activities. Our fundraising team can provide details of inspiring projects and special wishes to motivate children.
Starlight Wish Day
A great way to bring some magic to school – children dress up as fairies, pirates, pop stars, cartoon characters or anything else they can dream up and bring a gold coin donation. You could include a fairy cake baking session, a Stars In Their Eyes contest, a star treasure hunt and other fun activities.
Starlight Wishing Wall
The Starlight Wishing Wall is a thought provoking fundraising idea that is fun to create at school at any time of year. All that is required is a large but simple night sky scene to be painted and displayed. Children then make their own stars (we can provide a template if you need it), write a wish on the back and display them on the Wishing Wall for a gold coin donation.
Starlight Christmas Wishing Tree
A variation for the run up to Christmas, this is a fantastic alternative to pupils buying and sending each other Christmas cards. It’s eco-friendly and a lot cheaper for parents too! Simply paint big Christmas trees instead of a night sky. As an alternative to the tree, some schools have made wonderful displays by hanging the stars up. Children really enjoy finding their star and pointing it out to their friends.
