Little Lydia never dreamed that her wish to be a princess would bring her face-to-face with a real-life prince, especially HRH Prince William!
Born with a hole in her heart and pulmonary atresia, a form of congenital heart disease, six year old Lydia has undergone major surgical procedures and overcome some very complex medical difficulties. At just two years of age, she was also diagnosed with Alagille syndrome, which is a rare disorder that seriously affects the liver and means Lydia requires daily medication and may, in the future, need further surgery.
Despite the severity of her condition, Lydia had one key dream in life. “I want to be a princess,” she said, “and wear a tiara and lots of jewellery and princess shoes.” Watch the film above to see how Starlight arranged for Lydia to be a Princess for the day with her very own Prince!
