Summer Services

Summer Services

We’re making a difference this summer. Our new summer boxes will provide much-needed resources to support frontline staff in helping seriously ill children be themselves and feel less alone.

Alongside our hospital services, we’re holding events around the country and coming together safely to make sure every seriously ill child enjoys the freedom to play.

Find out more about the services we’re offering below.

We’re delivering our first ever Summer Adventure Boxes directly to the seriously ill children who need them most. The boxes will encourage families to play together and create immersive adventure experiences in their own home or garden.

Each box will include a den building kit, arts and crafts activities to decorate the den and a night sky projector will help children to imagine that their den is anywhere in the world.

Our Beach Adventure Boxes have been designed to create a fun and immersive experience for children and young people that bring the beach to life in a hospital environment.

This box includes walls stickers, inflatable palm trees and summer bunting to help transform hospital wards around the UK. Beached-themed arts and crafts kits and beach games will encourage active play for children, wherever they’re spending their summer.

We’ll also be delivering our Active Play Boxes to hospitals with outdoor spaces to make sure children are still able to play games, sports and do fun physical activity outdoors this summer.

The boxes include ball games, football and tennis sets, skittles, giant board games, bubbles and much more! With items for indoor and outdoor play and for a range of interests and abilities, they’ll be something to get every child moving.

Following the success of our themed Christmas Boost and Distraction Boxes, we’ll be sending out summer boxes to all of our hospital partners. These will include all the usual toys that are included in these boxes but with a summer twist: think ice cream, sea life, flamingos, oceans, sand and bubbles!

Starlight Summer Festival

Starlight Summer Festival

To make our annual Starlight Summer Party safe and accessible for the families that we support, we’ll be holding our first ever socially-distanced family festival this August. Sixty families will join Starlight in North London for an afternoon packed full of entertainment, food, crafts and socially distanced fun.

Events like this provide children living with serious illness and their families the chance to leave the stresses of hospital treatment behind, to have fun together as a family and make some amazing memories.

Drive-in Movies

Drive-in Movies

We’re holding an exclusive Drive-in Movie screening of ‘The Greatest Showman’ for our families in Manchester this July. This socially distanced and accessible event will be jam-packed with immersive experiences, popcorn and some family time together. Families can sit back, relax and sing to their hearts’ content from the comfort of their own cars.
