Childhood cancer survivor is tragically killed in car accident

Mark Davey was just eleven years old when he was struck down by non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of cancer. Whilst undergoing treatment, Mark was supported by Starlight and after a long, difficult and often painful treatment he finally beat his cancer.

Nineteen years later, to celebrate his 30th birthday, Mark pledged to raise £30,000 for Starlight to help grant wishes-of-a-lifetime for seriously and terminally ill children so they could experience the positive benefits of the fun, laughter and excitement created by a Starlight Wish and by Starlight Hospital Entertainment.

A boxing match and the London Marathon raised £7,500 when tragically, Mark was killed in a car accident last Saturday, 13 September. We all send our most sincere condolences to Mark’s friends and family.

Family and friends are determined that Mark reaches (and hopefully exceeds) his target and have asked anyone who would like to support Mark to please donate online here or alternatively please TEXT WISH35 £5 to 70070 to give £5 towards Mark’s target.

UPDATE – message from family

We would like to thank you all for supporting Mark’s pledge to Starlight and for the continued donations sending his dreams sky high and brightening the lives of seriously and terminally ill children in Mark’s memory.
