We’re delighted to announce that world champion dancers Karen and Kevin Clifton have become Ambassadors for the charity.
The duo are one of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing most popular dance couples and join Matt Smith, Keira Knightley, Rupert Grint and Sienna Miller as Starlight Ambassadors.
Last weekend Karen and Kevin stepped into their Ambassador shoes to help Starlight grant a wish for seven-year-old Strictly Come Dancing fan Madeline who has a rare genetic condition. Madeline wished to watch Strictly Come Dancing Live at the O2 Arena and with the help of Kevin and Karen, Starlight were able to make this happen. Karen and Kevin met Madeline and her family backstage before the show and Karen even gave Madeline some sparkly red bangles to match her dress.
This was the first wish that Karen and Kevin have granted for Starlight, and they hope that in their role as Ambassadors they’ll be able to do much more to help the charity.
Commenting on becoming Ambassadors, Kevin, who came a runner-up in the Strictly Come Dancing 2015 final with dance partner Kellie Bright and Karen, who attended Starlight’s 11 Downing Street Christmas party in December, said, “We are delighted to be ambassadors of Starlight. We love to see children smile and hope to bring lots of happy moments to each and every one of them. In our eyes every second of joy counts in their precious life.”
In their ambassadorial role, Karen and Kevin will help the charity grant wishes, attend Starlight’s Escape Days and help raise Starlight’s profile during our 30th birthday year.
