Stewart skis his way to the South Pole – and back again!

Friends Stewart and Devon recently raised £1,020 for Starlight by crossing Antarctica, just like adventurer Ernest Shackleton did 100 years ago.

They spent 48 gruelling days covering 1,101 nautical miles on skis – from the Weddell Coast to the Pole – and back again! Temperatures fell as low as -50C and the pair had to cross treacherous snow-filled crevasses.

Stewart and Devon spent two years planning the adventure. Stewart said, “their were some scary moments but it never crossed my mind to give up. The thought of helping Starlight’s seriously ill children kept me going.”
