Gurmukh at Space Port USA01/04/2011 – His dream was to be a pilot until cancer struck. Now the 17-year-old Dartford teenager’s hope is being rekindled by Sir Richard Branson, who showed him the world’s first commercial spaceship.

Gurmukh Virdi, of Wilmington, met the entrepreneur through the Starlight charity which grants wishes for youngsters with serious illness.

He was flown to New Mexico for an awe-inspiring visit to see Space Port USA and the test flight of Sir Richard’s first spaceship, called Enterprise after the fictional vessel in Star Trek.
