This year’s NAHPS National Play in Hospital Week will be taking place from 14th – 20th October, supported by Starlight and one of NAHPS’ patrons, Dr Hilary Cass (President of RCPCH).
The event will be celebrating the importance of play in hospitals and commemorating 50 years since the first ever Hospital Play Staff were employed by the Save the Children Fund at the Brook Hospital, London. Since then, the profession has grown from strength to strength and Starlight is delighted to continue to support entertainment for children in hospitals and hospices across the UK.
As part of the event, we are encouraging hospital staff to contact the archive and communications teams at your hospitals and dig out old photographs. We would love you to participate by making a display at your hospital, demonstrating how play in hospitals has developed since the 1960s. Competition! This year we are asking patients to take part in a creative competition, representing ‘50 Years of Play in Hospital’ in their own fashion. Regional and national winners will be awarded a prize along with the winning hospital so please encourage those creative talents to get working! For further information, please click here.
