Camp Rock’s Demi Lovato grants her biggest fan’s wish!

Starlight Children’s Foundation, the UK’s leading wish granting charity has just granted Amy Lester (11) from Mansfield in Manchester her dearest wish to meet her Camp Rock hero Demi Lovato.

When Amy was diagnosed with a liver infection in June 2006 her parents were not too worried, but Amy had an extremely rare liver complaint. Colitis lead to liver disease and to her parents distress Amy’s condition could not be dealt with by medication and resulted in Amy having two liver transplants and over 3 months in St James hospital in Leeds. Amy was referred to Starlight by Joyce Clayton, a regional paediatric Social Worker. Joyce said, “Amy really has had a tough time medically but always come back smiling, I really hope her wish comes true.”

The wish-granters at Starlight immediately sprung into action to make little Amy’s dearest wish come true and when Amy’s mum explained about her love of all things Camp Rock  “her bedroom is floor to ceiling posters and her we have got her every piece of merchandise possible” with particular reference to her heroine – Demi Lovato; Starlight set about organizing a very special meet and great for Demi and her biggest fan Amy!

The dream started as Amy, her mum Helen were taken to Jasmine studios where Demi was having an exclusive photoshoot for Bliss Magazine – Amy and her Mum were escorted to Demi’s glamorous dressing room where Demi was delighted to meet her. The pair discussed Camp Rock, and Camp Rock 2, which is coming out this year, they talked about Amy’s Camp Rock collection and Demi then presented Amy with some more CDs for her room and her very own Blue Peter badge, which Demi herself had been awarded and had cherished for many years.  To complete the wish, Starlight whisked Amy and Helen off to Oxford street in a limo to do some London shopping and Starlight made sure they had enough money for a slap-up dinner too!

Amy’s Dad Shaun Lester said to Starlight:

“Whilst Amy was in hospital we always tried to cheer her up by getting her Camp Rock clothes, CDs, DVDs and it would always cheer her up a bit – but knowing she was going to actually meet her idol thanks to Starlight was the thing that really made her stay positive. When I saw her after she came back from her wish she was just SO happy – the blue Peter Badge especially made her day! She still talks about it everyday. Thank you so much Starlight for making it happen.”
