Charlotte meets Ant and Dec

Charlotte, Ant and Dec

Charlotte, Ant and Dec04/03/2011 – Thirteen year old Charlotte Croydon, from Swindon, has had her dearest wish to meet television stars Ant and Dec granted by Starlight Children’s Foundation, the UK’s leading wish granting charity for children with serious and terminal illnesses.

Shortly after she was born, Charlotte was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart disease and she had her first operation within the first ten days of her life. Due to the severity of her condition, Charlotte requires daily medication, has a limited capacity for exercise and had endured four open heart procedures.

Charlotte’s mum Denise describes her daughter as, “the kindest person and the best daughter a parent could ask for. With everything that she has been through since birth, she just gets on with it and enjoys life.”

Brave Charlotte’s favourite television show is Britain’s Got Talent and presenters Ant and Dec are her ultimate heroes. Her once-in-a-lifetime wish was to meet Ant and Dec and she told Starlight that “meeting them in person would make my dream come true”. Mum Denise reiterated this, saying: “If Starlight could make this happen, it would be the best thing that could ever happen to Charlotte.”

The charity arranged for Charlotte to meet her stars on the set of their new ITV show, Push The Button. Before the show, Ant and Dec came through to meet Charlotte, who instantly burst in to tears on seeing her heroes face-to-face. The boys chatted with Charlotte and her family and they had photos taken together before they gave her their autographs to put in her dedicated Ant and Dec book.

Charlotte and her family were invited to watch the live show and during the filming, Dec waved at the young fan and blew her a kiss at the end when he and Ant were thanking the audience for watching.

Denise said afterwards: “I would like to thank Starlight for granting Charlotte’s wish – it was very emotional and special for her. Ant & Dec made her wish come true and it something that she will remember for the rest of her life.”
