08/11/11 – The Theatre Academy in Windsor has raised over £2,000 for Starlight Children’s Foundation with its production of Lionel Bart’s popular musical, Oliver!
Staged at The Theatre Royal Windsor, a cast consisting of young people aged six to twenty-sixed dazzled the audience and sang out sing-a-long favourites ‘I’d do Anything’ and ‘Consider Yourself’’. The cast, which included some young stars from the Heidi Rhodes School of Dancing, conducted a bucket collection during their production of the hit musical between 25 – 29 Oct in aid of Starlight and their efforts were generously rewarded by the audience.
With the funds raised, The Theatre Academy will be supporting The Starlight Christmas of Happiness, which aims to bring magical wishes and festive entertainment to poorly children in hospitals and hospices this Christmas. Specifically, they will also be helping to grant the wish of 6 year old Skye, who suffers from Wilm’s Tumour and dreams of watching the theatre production of The Lion King.

Starlight grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children, restoring the magic and fun of childhood and giving the whole family happy memories to share, whatever the future holds.
Starlight also creates entertainment in every hospital and hospice throughout the UK. Sick children go to Starlight parties, laugh their way through pantomimes, go out on Starlight Escapes, play games and watch films on the Starlight Fun Centre, and enjoy the toys and puzzles of the Starlight Distraction Box. Happy children respond better to treatment and Starlight helps children to forget about their illness and simply have a bit of fun.
You can make a donation online or by calling us on 020 7262 2881. For every £1 you donate, Starlight can assure you that over 91p goes towards helping very ill children. To refer a child for a wish, simply complete our wish referral form.
