Twenty-three year old Bianca Nicholas from Beckenham in Kent, who has previously sung with Will Young and performed for TRH Princes William and Harry and The Duchess of Cambridge, is launching her debut single entitled, “Hold On To Your Dreams”.
Bianca’s musical career started when at 15 she was granted a wish by Starlight Children’s Foundation, Starlight Children’s Foundation, which is a national charity that brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children. Starlight arranged for Bianca, who suffers from life-shortening condition Cystic Fibrosis and dreams of being a professional singer, to go to a recording studio and record a number of cover singles for a special CD.
Bianca has gone on to sing live at many Starlight events over the last seven years including the legendary Boodles Boxing Ball last Saturday where she launched her debut single by singing live in front of 850 high profile guests, including Pippa Middleton and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
“Hold On To Your Dreams” is a ballad with lyrics very close to Bianca’s heart as her dream is to become a professional recording artist with a number one single. The lyrics and music were created for Bianca by music industry veteran Bill Gautier.
Bianca’s determination to fulfil her dream is all the more special because she is a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer. The illness requires rigorous physiotherapy, about 40 tablets every day as well as nebulisers and inhalers to try and keep her well. Sadly there is currently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis but, despite this, Bianca is determined to become a pop star and we would like to make her dream come true.
One of the many affects of Cystic Fibrosis is that breathing is very difficult because of the effect of sticky mucus in her lungs but breathing exercises and singing helps to keep her lungs clear. Bianca says of her condition “Having Cystic Fibrosis has never stopped me from trying to realise my dreams. I feel so lucky that the one thing I love doing more than anything else, singing, is helping to keep me healthy too!”

Starlight grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children, restoring the magic and fun of childhood and giving the whole family happy memories to share, whatever the future holds.
Starlight also creates entertainment in every hospital and hospice throughout the UK. Sick children go to Starlight parties, laugh their way through pantomimes, go out on Starlight Escapes, play games and watch films on the Starlight Fun Centre, and enjoy the toys and puzzles of the Starlight Distraction Box. Happy children respond better to treatment and Starlight helps children to forget about their illness and simply have a bit of fun.
You can make a donation online or by calling us on 020 7262 2881. For every £1 you donate, Starlight can assure you that over 91p goes towards helping very ill children. To refer a child for a wish, simply complete our wish referral form.
