With Christmas just around the corner, Airmen from the 492nd Fighter Squadron helped Starlight spread some Christmas cheer by hosting 31 Starlight families at the Duxford Christmas Party at the Imperial War Museum.
Airmen and volunteers set up lots of activities for the children and their families to enjoy including arts and crafts tables, ring toss, a pilot dress-up photo booth. Father Christmas also was on hand to meet all the children and give them a present.
Organising the event this year and seeing the joy on the children’s faces has been a truly rewarding experience for everyone in the 492nd Fighter Squadron. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with such resilient and amazing families!

This event is part of a long-standing tradition of American Airmen helping children and families in challenging circumstances celebrate Christmas. This tradition goes all the way back to World War II, when the area around Duxford hosted children evacuated from towns devastated by bombardment.
