The hottest day of the year so far did not stop the fun at Starlight’s annual Summer Party last week!
On Thursday 26th July over 550 children who have had wishes with Starlight, or are waiting for their wish to be granted, plus children from local hospitals and hospices and their families, joined us for ‘A Day in the Country in London’. It is the sixth year our outdoor fete-style party has been held at Belmont Farm and it has grown to be one of the biggest Starlight Escapes of the year.
The jam-packed day included lots of activities; from clay pigeon shooting, an animal petting area and pony and trap rides, to arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, fete games and much much more!
After working up an appetite, guests tucked into a yummy BBQ, sandwiches and snacks, and cooled off with ice cream.
The boys had so much fun and it is always so wonderful to see them, and all the Starlight Children, enjoying themselves. There was so much to see and do!
The day ended with our infamous Starlight Tug-of-War tournament which saw the children, along with the help of our Captain Starlight Team, take victory over our volunteers and supporters, including the British Army, Met Police and the London Fire Brigade!
One Mum spoke about their family day out:
“We’ve had another wonderful day out thanks to Starlight, this time at their Summer Party. The boys had so much fun and it is always so wonderful to see them, and all the Starlight Children, enjoying themselves. There was so much to see and do!”
A huge thank you to our volunteers, supporters and guests who came along and made the day one to remember!
Escapes like the Summer Party give seriously ill children and their families a day away from their usual routines of hospital visits and treatments. Find out how you can help us provide more Escape days like this one here.
