The President of the United States may be one of the busiest people in the world but he still found time to give Mohini a hug when she had her Starlight wish-of-a-lifetime granted and met The President in the Oval Office.
Sixteen-year-old Mohini who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukeamia in 2007 had always wanted to meet President Obama and couldn’t believe it when we contacted her earlier this summer to let her know that her wish was to be granted! Extremely excited and a little nervous too, Mohini flew out to Washington with her mum and uncle and spent a few days enjoying the cultural highlights of Washington.
On her penultimate day in the capital, Mohini was invited to have a special tour of the White House before her personal meeting with The President. She couldn’t quite believe it when President Obama came out of the Oval Office and invited Mohini inside. Mohini followed The President into the Oval Office where she was able to tell him a little bit about herself and her wish. He in turn was able to answer some of her questions. When it was time for Mohini to leave she was thrilled President Obama gave her a hug! Mohini left The White House truly inspired by meeting The President with wonderful memories of a very special day!
