The idea of ‘a wish come true’ kept Aaron going through three tough years of chemotherapy. “It was obvious what his wish would be … he’s been a McFly fan since he was four,” said Aaron’s mum.
She continued: “It only took Starlight a couple of weeks to ring with the plan! It was hard, but I kept it a secret until there were only two weeks to go because I knew he would burst with excitement!”
Aaron and his family went backstage at Glasgow’s SECC, where he spent 25 minutes with McFly. Aaron, who is a guitar player and has his own band called Back to Back, played It’s All About You for them.
His mum said: “He looked like he was one of the band, and sat and chatted to the boys about writing songs and playing the guitar.”
Aaron added: “They said they thought my band name was really clever. That felt good!”
Aaron and his family were then treated to a special meal out before taking their seats at the concert.
His mum said: “His was an exceptional reward for having to spend so much of the last three years in hospital, missing out on school and having so many infections that left him desperately ill.”
