Starlight’s Star Jump challenge is well underway! In homes across the UK, families are limbering up and doing 100 Star Jumps a day throughout the month of November.

Families like Mum and son Sarah and Ciaran, who were inspired to take on the challenge after Ciaran, who has cerebral palsy, spent weeks in hospital to have spinal surgery. While on the ward at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, the toys from Starlight provided comfort during his stay.

Starlight set up games for us to play while I was staying at the hospital. Having the surgery was a bit scary but it was necessary, it meant a lot to have it and the charity made me feel much better while being there.”

Speaking about the challenge Sarah said: “I wanted to do it because you’ve helped my son and many other children. The toys put you at ease because I had no idea how I would keep him entertained for three weeks. I wanted to do the star jumping to give something back to Starlight and show I appreciated what you’ve done for us.”

It’s not too late to get involved in the action!

No child should be deprived of play. We know that if a child can’t play during their treatment, the experience can be scary, upsetting and isolating. Star Jump for Starlight and help us raise the £300,000 we need to make sure 30,000 seriously ill children get to hear these magic words this Christmas – it’s time to play.
