The Great North Run
The Great North Run is the world’s biggest Half Marathon, now in its 42nd year!
Participants come from every postcode region in the UK to take part, and the event is televised live on the BBC.
Follow the 13.1-mile route from city to coast, crossing the iconic Tyne Bridge alongside athletes, celebrities and 57,000 fellow runners.
We have 25 charity places, and we’ll do everything in our power to get you to that finishing line. And if you’re lucky enough to have a ballot place, we’d love to have you on #TeamStarlight too. Together we’ll protect play for seriously ill children.

“Thank you so much to you and your team for making the day extra special for me. You have no idea how much difference it makes when you’re running to have that support and encouragement. The massage and food at the end were also really appreciated and helped me to be able to walk the next day!”
Already have a Ballot Place?
If you have received a place through the ballot, we would love for you to join #TeamStarlight and help us preserve childhood throughout serious illness.
There is no registration fee or minimum fundraising target for runners who have their own ballot place. All we ask is that you set up an online fundraising page and raise as much as you can and we will be there to provide you with support every step of the way.
