NAHPS National Play in Hospital Week 2017 is now just under four weeks away!
Starlight Children’s Foundation is pleased to support the National Association of Health Play Specialists (NAHPS) for a seventh year. This special week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of play and activity in the treatment of poorly children and young people and this year has the theme of ‘The Power of Play’.

Information and Activity Pack
This year’s Information and Activity Pack is now available.
We hope the pack helps you to organise lots of fun activities for your patients. It includes:
- NAHPS membership form
- Starlight Children’s Foundation information sheets
- NAHPS information sheets
- Communications guidelines, ‘Getting Play in the Press’
- Activity sheets
In the run up to National Play in Hospital Week, Starlight and NAHPS are delighted to invite Health Play Specialists at hospitals, hospices and in the community to enter into a national competition.
To enter, Play Teams are asked to create something that shows us how play improves the patient experience. This could perhaps take the form of pictures and photos on a wall, models or decorations in a play room – the more creative the better! For the first time this year, your entry can be in a digital format, giving you the opportunity to record a short show, a song or anything else you can think of.
To enter, please take a photo of your display or a video of your creation and send it with your hospital, ward name and contact details to Starlight at email@example.com by Wednesday 4th October.
Winners will be announced during National Play in Hospital Week. First, second and third place winners will be awarded prizes. The winning entry will be used in promotional materials for National Play in Hospital Week.
