How Starlight helps Children
Children need to play. It’s about much more than having fun. It’s how kids learn, communicate and figure out who they are.

Our support for children
At Starlight, we help seriously ill children in hospital play, laugh and do the things they love. With our Boost Boxes, Distraction Boxes, Starlight Wishes and Escapes and more, we help children forget their worries and feel the joy of childhood.
Today, the support we offer has never been needed more; from Isolation Packs to safely provide items to distract and delight children in hospital, to hosting virtual parties to entertain and keep children connected with others.

The support Starlight have given us has been so heart-warming and vital. It means so much that there are people that understand the massive effort it is to just try and function as a working family with such profound disabilities.

Boost Boxes
When nurses need to cheer up a child in hospital, they reach for a Starlight Boost Box. But what’s inside?

Distraction Boxes
Injections seem a lot less scary when you’re playing with a kaleidoscope. Find out what’s in our Distraction Boxes.

Starlight Escapes
Flying days. Boat parties. Film screenings. Every year we organise epic days out for children and their families.

Wishes
From lifeboat rides to trips to meet Santa, we make 600+ wishes come true for children each year. What else do kids ask for?

Starlight Pantomime
Every winter, the Starlight Panto crew fill nearly 100 children’s wards with Christmas cheer. Oh yes they do!

Starlight Play Week
Every October we celebrate Play in Hospital Week, organising events nationwide to show why play matters.
