Virtual Reality, Real Impact

Starlight is bringing cutting-edge VR into hospitals and hospices to reduce anxiety, build resilience, and make medical treatment less scary for children.

Starlight’s mission is to protect play for seriously ill children. Our innovative VR programme is one of the most exciting ways we’re doing that.

Using VR as a distraction and preparation tool, we’re helping children reduce pain, manage anxiety, and feel more in control during treatment. Whether it’s a blood test, scan, or a long-term hospital stay, VR turns fear into focus.

SyncVR Partnership

We’re proud to partner with SyncVR Medical, a leading provider of healthcare-based virtual reality. Together, we’re making immersive, therapeutic experiences more accessible to children across the UK.

“SyncVR’s technology is designed for hospitals — intuitive, hygienic, and safe. Partnering with Starlight means we can reach even more young people with tools that genuinely change lives.”

Insights and Impact

VR is an effective form of distraction in treatment When given the choice of what to play with during treatment, 95% of children picked VR and 92% of these found it easy to use. When children were asked to elaborate on the impact of VR, the majority of children that responded said it was distracting. Of those children who used VR for the whole treatment, 81% said they would like to use it again.
