Corporate Social Impact Expert Joins Starlight Board

Abi Robins, Centrica’s Director of Responsible Business, has joined Starlight's Board of Trustees,

She has been appointed as the charity embarks on ambitious plans to increase reach, brand awareness and drive income so every child in the UK can experience the healing power of play wherever they receive treatment.

With over 20 years experience working across sustainability, social impact, marketing and corporate-charity partnerships, she brings experience in combining purpose-led strategy with commercial insight.

Abi has also held senior roles at FTSE 100 companies including retailers Tesco and Kingfisher, working across the full marketing mix and a range of social impact programmes, developing a deep understanding of customer behaviour and operations.

Starlight’s purpose has really struck a chord with me - the impact the team makes, both in supporting children and families during some of their most difficult moments, as well as in championing lasting, positive change in the NHS is deeply inspiring. I hope to contribute a fresh strategic perspective and help strengthen the governance and long-term planning at board level. I’m especially excited about exploring new ways to grow Starlight’s income through strategic partnerships – finding allies who share the belief that play is not just important, but essential to children’s health." - Abi

“A mother, an advocate and a leader – Abi will be a great addition to our board. She brings an enviable mix of corporate sector experience and working closely with charities to shape partnerships that deliver mutual value. Her expertise will support our plans to grow our brand awareness and fundraising so we can reach the millions of children who need us.”

Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive of Starlight
