Donation Stations: An exciting new initiative with Ryman

Liberty shares an easy way to bring play to hospitals while you shop in Ryman:

We are announcing a wonderful new initiative in partnership with Ryman that we're calling ‘Donation Stations’.

At their local Ryman Hampstead branch, you can now purchase toys, arts and crafts, and games to send to their local NHS hospital, The Whittington. You've even got the option to personalise your purchase by writing a note on the Ryman supplied gift tags before it gets sent to the hospital.

Your purchases will benefit the children in The Whittington in so many ways; as distraction toys, gifts to send home with children when they leave hospital, and as birthday and Christmas presents for children that are in hospital to bring them some celebration and fun in what could otherwise be a scary and daunting time.

We have supported Starlight since 2019, as a partner for their Health Play Specialist of the Year Awards, and recognise the importance of play for poorly children in hospitals and the positive impact this has on the children, as well as their families throughout stressful times. We were also able to support Starlight through the last few months, as Covid-19 hit the world, by working with many of our suppliers to create isolation kits for the children and help where we could.

Kirsten Lawton, Company Secretary - Ryman and the Theo Paphitis Charitable Trust

We’ve been partnering with Ryman and the Theo Paphitis Retail Group for two years and we’re so proud to work with them to find new and innovative ways to support children in hospital. Craft supplies, like colouring pencils and colouring books, can provide a necessary distraction to children in hospital when recovering from surgeries or procedures, reducing the levels of trauma that can often be associated with it.

As the UK’s leading charity for children’s play in hospitals and hospices, we champion the use of play to help reduce fear, pain and trauma during treatment and recovery from illness - boosting mental and physical health and resilience. We work to ensure every child has the opportunity, space and time to experience play.
