As an A&E nurse, Lauren sees firsthand the difference Starlight resources make for the seriously ill children she supports in hospital. So for her, choosing to run the 10km Tough Mudder for Team Starlight was a no-brainer.

On race day, Lauren and the 10 friends she roped into competing with her completed 20 obstacles across 10km. From working together to climb over high obstacles, swinging across monkey bars to avoid muddy water, crawling under barb wire through mud, or sliding through a small tube into freezing water, Lauren and her friends relied on team work and perserverance to cross Tough Mudder’s finish line.

After months of training and fundraising, Lauren’s hard work was rewarded! She tackled the 20 obstacles, crossed that finish line, and raised a whopping £2,542 for Starlight!

I was so nervous the morning of the race, but it's amazing how much mental strength can pull you through. It helped having a team with me as we were all super excited and supportive of each other. But the best bit was knowing I was racing for Starlight and raising money for a great cause!

Lauren Watts

Despite her nerves, Lauren smashed her fundraising goal and conquered her nerves for the race all whilst having a great time doing so. Everyone at Starlight is so proud of her hard work and dedication!
