Starlight is excited to release our new Play in Hospital Report 2022, to coincide with the start of Play in Hospital Week. This year’s report highlights the vital importance of children’s play to their mental health and wellbeing while in hospital, and how everyday play opportunities in healthcare can reduce the anxiety and fear often experienced by children in hospital.
Our report details the current ‘state of play’ in children’s healthcare settings across the UK and how the pandemic has severely impacted the level of play resource funding.
The report urgently calls on UK healthcare settings to make a bigger priority of children’s play as the NHS adjusts to the new normal and, in the longer-term, for health play specialists to be seen as an integral part of the healthcare workforce.
