Lockdown was a strange time for all of us, but here at Starlight it gave us a chance to truly understand what some of our families deal with on a daily basis as they have to shield. Whilst restrictions eased for most of us, lots of our lovely families had no choice but to continue to isolate.

With this in mind, throughout the summer holidays we put on a virtual Starlight Escape each week for our families to enjoy.

At Starlight we truly value the power of play and distraction as necessary tools in dealing with the difficulties our families face every day. Through the wonderful character of Captain Fantastic and a fabulous Magical Mystery Quest, our families were whisked away from their own front rooms and plunged into a world of laughter and wonder.

These parties were a chance for the children interact with other children, sing, dance and distract themselves from daily life and we are so glad we could help in some way!

This summer has been so strange with no summer camps running or opportunity to see other children. As Lucienne is an only child and I work full time, it has been lonely for her at times. She was delighted to have an opportunity to chat with other children before the party and to have fun and entertainment to add novelty to her day.
