Our biggest Starlight Escape of the year saw families from local hospitals and hospices, and those who have had recent wishes with Starlight, come together for a day of fete games, food and activities. And despite it being a record-breaking hot day (for the second year in a row!), almost 500 people came to join the fun!
The jam-packed day saw guests take in the sights from the Ferris wheel, be entertained by the Starlight Storytellers’ interactive fairytales and jump for joy on the bouncy castle and trampolines! The day culminated in our now famous tug of war competition, where the children beat off all competition and were victorious once again! After working up an appetite, guests tucked into a delicious BBQ, sandwiches and snacks, and cooled off with ice cream.
Days like these provide families with a chance to escape the reality of treatment, making new friends and creating memories to last a lifetime.
Thanks for an amazing day. It was our first time at the Summer Party and the staff couldn’t do enough for us- amazing food, entertainment and rides. Starlight really understand how to create an event that is tailored to our special children, we all felt very special and part of the big Starlight family.
Thank you to all the corporate volunteers who joined us on the day, from keeping everyone well fed, to putting your head in the stocks and getting soaking wet! You made the day what is was. Thanks also to Belmont Farm for your hospitality once again and for being such tough opponents for the Army and London Fire Brigade during the tug of war!
