The Daniels Brothers Run the London Marathon for Starlight

This past October, Michael Daniels and his two brothers, Richard and Antony, chose to run for Team Starlight in the 2021 London Marathon in memory of Richard’s late son Jacob Daniels.

Jacob passed away suddenly in 2007 at three years old, and since then Michael, his brothers, and many other family members have supported and hosted numerous fundraisers for Starlight.

This year’s race was extra special as this was the first race all three brothers were able to do together since the mid-80s. Their mum was even able to fly in from South Africa after quarantining in Paris to support them on their big day.

During his short time with us, Jacob brought a lot of joy, happiness and laughter. This is what Starlight do on a daily basis for children and families in dire need of some light.

Despite the race being in the midst of Covid-19’s complications, Michael would still recommend taking on the London Marathon challenge and joining Team Starlight.

With massive support stands at the 14 mile marker and the finish line, thousands of fans cheering you on, and 40,000+ fellow runners lending their support, Michael said the day was never short of encouraging cheers.

But the best part for Michael was the opportunity to run with a purpose. With the memory of Jacob and the thought of the kids and families Starlight supports, Micahel had the motivation he needed to make it through the year’s training and the tough race.

At every yard of the 26.2 miles, [there are] people clapping, shouting encouragement to strangers, handing out sweets, waters, energy gels, and waving banners with jokes or inspirational messages!
